Founded in 1986, The Huntsville Library Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to advocate for the library and to acquire resources that enhance the library’s value to the community. This team of dedicated individuals works year-round to raise funds for the library’s 12 branches to better serve Madison County. With a voluntary board of directors, the Foundation believes that a great library helps make a great community

New library garden encourages connections with nature

Eleanor E. Murphy Learning Garden ribbon cuttingEleanor E. Murphy Public Library is celebrating 50 years of service to South Huntsville this year with a very special addition. Mayor Tommy Battle, City Council President Jennie Robinson, and Madison County Commissioner Phil Riddick will join patrons from the local community in a ribbon cutting ceremony on April 11 at 10 a.m., at the Murphy Library, 7910 Charlotte Drive in Huntsville.

Closer to the finish line: New North Huntsville Library receives large donation

Another sizable donation is pushing the new North Huntsville Library project closer to its $2.5 million goal. A press conference will be held on Wednesday, Mar. 22, at 2 p.m. at the Bessie K. Russell Library, 3011-C Sparkman Dr., to acknowledge a generous contribution from the Alabama A&M University Foundation on behalf of the university. AAMU President Andrew Hugine Jr. and First Lady Abbiegail Hugine, Mayor Tommy Battle, and District 1 Councilman Devyn Keith will be in attendance.

AAMU has a long history of supporting the North Huntsville community.
